Explore the charming local villages and towns
Totnes (2 miles) - Totnes enjoys a prominent position above the River Dart. Visit the 11th Century Castle, trace the towns colourful history in the Guildhall, or hunt down bargains in the weekly outdoor market! With plenty of charming shops and boutiques, there is also a large modern supermarket for all your self-catering provisions.

Stoke Gabriel (2 miles) - Stoke Gabriel is a charming winding village set in a creek on the River Dart. One of Devon's most attractive villages, it has free fishing in the creek and excellent traditional country pubs.


Dittisham (4 miles) - A very pretty village of thatched stone cottages winding through plum orchards down to the River Dart. From a quay by an ancient inn, a passenger-ferry plies its trade to the ringing of a large brass bell.

Dartmouth (5 miles) - The stunning town of Dartmouth, a popular boating centre and an active fishing port, is rich in buildings of historic and architectural interest. Art galleries and fascinating shops abound in Foss Street to while away an hour or two. Pleasure boat trips are a favourite pastime, and guided tours of the town are available from the Britannia Royal Naval College (where Queen Elizabeth met Prince Phillip).

Kingsbridge (10 miles) - Kingsbridge lies at the head of the Kingsbridge Estuary. Its focal point is The Quay, where numerous events including the weekly market, and monthly farmers market, take place. The town's museum gives a fascinating taste of rural life in years gone by.


Salcombe (15 miles) - The most southerly town in Devon, Salcombe is also one of its best loved sailing centres. With beaches, coastal walks, watersports, quaint shops tucked up tiny streets and a wide choice of pubs and restaurants, Salcombe has everything for a superb day out.
